The Manipur Electricity Regulatory Commission (MnERC) is a Corporate body, constituted by the State Government of Manipur which was established on 23rd July, 2024 through a Notification vide No. JERC/1/2022-POW-PD-Part (1) dated 22.07.2024.
MnERC is a regulatory body with its main function of determination of electricity tariff, regulation of purchase & procurement process of power, fecilitate Intra – State transmission & wheeling of electricity, issuing of licenses to transmission and distribution entities, promote co-generation and generation of electricity from renewable resources, adjudicate upon the disputes between licensees and generating companies for generation of electricity and to advise State Government in making policies, promote competition, efficiency and economy in Electrical industries etc.
Who We Are?
The Manipur Electricity Regulatory Commission is a Corporate body constituted by the State Government of Manipur which was established on 23rd July, 2024 through a Notification vide No.JERC/1/2022-POW-PD-Part (1) dated 22.07.2024.
Before 23rd July, 2024 there was a Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission for both Manipur and Mizoram state. It was bifurcated on 22nd July, 2024 and from 23rd July, 2024, MnERC has been functioning independently.
MnERC carries out the regulatory functions of electricity in Manipur State as per electricity Act, National Electricity Policy and National Electricity Plan. MnERC also perform advisory function to State Government for development of Power Scenario in the State.

- Issue of license to persons seeking to act as transmission license, distribution licence and electricity traders
- Promote co generation and generation from renewable source of energy
- To adjudication upon dispute between license and generating company
